twitter is dumb...so far. this statement is basically my intro, thesis and conclusion. for some reason i really dislike this whole twitter thing a lot! the funny thing is i wouldn't even be able to explain to someone why i hate it but i just do. i feel like it might have a lot to do with the fact that i'm not that familiar with it and that i don't really know how to use it very well. also the fact that i'm so addicted to Facebook and used to putting up my statuses and life updates there might have a lot to do with it.
i remember Debra talking about how other employers use twitter to look for employees but i don't know how much i agree with that statement but i cant really disagree or argue with it because i don't know if they do or do not use twitter. the main reason why i would like to disagree with that fact is because i feel like employers would be more professional and use more professional sites to fish for employees. i don't know tho, that just seems more logical to me.
unfortunately my opinion doesn't seem to valid for me because i feel like i'm saying all these negative things because i don't like twitter at all which would make my thoughts completely biased.
i honestly don't think that i'm ever going to even look at my twitter account after i'm done with the twitter requirements for this class.

Diversity Event: Teenager at Alcatraz
On the 16th of September I went to the MU to hear the well known Oklahoman Choctaw Tim Tingle tell a story about a prison inmate named Clarence Carnes. he got all of his information from a fellow inmate of Clarence whose name i cant recall who agreed to participate in recorded meetings and tell about Clarence's story. I'm not going to lie but I wasn't looking forward to this at all because like Megan and Sebastian, who accompanied me at this diversity event, i was expecting it to be super boring and and useless but i was wrong. its was actually one of the more useful and beneficial events I've ever gone to.
There were a lot of things i really liked about this event mainly having to do with his delivery. Tim did a GREAT job on reeling me into the story by the intense amount of emotion he put into the story. to summarize the story of Clarence Carnes told by Tim would simply be about a teenagers experience at the Alcatraz prison facility.
There were 2 main points of the story that really stuck in my head, the first one being about Clarence Carnes and the second one being about the inmate who told Tim the story. the point about Clarence is when i heard that he saved the guards life instead of killing him like any other inmate would have done. the other big thing that stuck in my head was just the idea of the inmate not telling his grandson about his 15+ years in the Alcatraz prison facility. i just think thats so crazy because the inmate now lives in the same city that he committed the crime.
Sooo my favorite part of the presentation was probably when Tim accidentally scared a baby in the first row when he yelled really loud at the beginning of the lecture.
overall i really enjoyed this diversity event because it was really interesting and beneficial. i would definitely go to another lecture like this one if another one is offered.

THE MOST BESTEST EVER :-)
soooo about this best thing...umm well my life pretty much has/will revolve around soccer for years to come probably so it only makes sense that when i was at my best would relate to soccer. it specifically relates to my senior year in high school when we won state...for the second year in a row. pretty much i started being at my best from the day of the mile run during tryouts.
the main reason why i think this was when i was at my best is because frankly, thats about as far back as i would like to think. i still remember the first day of tryouts on Monday march 15, 2010 when i almost slept through the first day of tryouts since we had practice at 7:00am but i somehow woke up at 6:44am and still made it. the first day was the day that nobody wanted to miss because it was the mile day which was the most important part of tryouts. i got second place with a mile time of 5:09 min which really gave me a lot of positive reinforcement for the rest of tryouts. long story short i made the team and practice started.
within the next 2 weeks we played our first game against cedar rapids Xavier high school and i hit the crossbar which sucked because i knew it would have just been the greatest feeling to score the first goal of the 2010 undefeated season. now it took me a few weeks to get hot and start scoring consistently but i eventually got there. by the 4th game i was averaging at least 1 goal every 2 games which in soccer is pretty good amount for a non-starter. this all changed when the starting forward got injured and i got the starting spot. from that point on i just became a scoring monster because of the upgraded level of play with the other starters. especially considering the fact that on of the other players on my high school team was named on the 3rd all national team!!! congrats to Tanner Schilling!
the reason why i think my senior soccer season was when i was at my best is because of the outcome which was a 2-time state championship title and my increased rank on the team. i went from second string forward to starting forward and second leading scorer on the 2nd ranked team in the nation right after Cox High school in Virginia:-)

Fergie Ferg :-)
Clumsy, Fergalicious, London Bridge, and Glamorous are just a few of my favorite songs from the beautiful and talented...and sexy! Fergie. And don't even get me started on cursive...thats the most pointless and useless skill to have. I don't remember ever using cursive since my 3rd grade class with Mrs. Loops... and yes that was her real last name.
Now the truth about Fergie is i never actually knew her real name until i looked up her information for this blog. I'm pretty sure a lot of you didn't know her real name either but its Stacey Ann Ferguson. Fergie is probably my second biggest hero growing up next to Tony the Tiger because her music was so catchy and her music videos were even "catchier" if you catch my drift... I know that Fergie has kind of fallen of the grid but i still listen to her every once in a while because she is still a good singer ;-)
Cursive...its one of those things that you either love or hate and in my case i hate it. Why would anyone ever need to use cursive in the real world? I just cant think of an instance when it would be necessary. I think one of the biggest reasons why i hate cursive so much is because of an embarrassing experience i had with it last year. Since i hadn't used cursive writing techniques since 3rd grade i completely forgot it pretty much and that really hurt when it came to ACT time. I'm sure all of you remember the cursive part of the ACT at the end of the test, it was the written agreement that you sign and date at the end. Well unfortunately that part might have actually been the hardest part of the whole test for me! And the most embarrassing part is that all you had to do was write a single sentence in cursive. The sentence was something along the lines of "I agree to taking this exam to the best of my ability and all the answers are my own" or something like that.
I guess pretty much what i'm trying to say is that i love fergie and i hate cursive writing. The reason why i hate cursive writing so much is simply because i suck at it and i love fergie because she attractive and ummm.... well pretty much just because she is attractive:-) Happy holidays to all and to all a good-night!
