Twitter....

twitter is dumb...so far. this statement is basically my intro, thesis and conclusion. for some reason i really dislike this whole twitter thing a lot! the funny thing is i wouldn't even be able to explain to someone why i hate it but i just do. i feel like it might have a lot to do with the fact that i'm not that familiar with it and that i don't really know how to use it very well. also the fact that i'm so addicted to Facebook and used to putting up my statuses and life updates there might have a lot to do with it.
i remember Debra talking about how other employers use twitter to look for employees but i don't know how much i agree with that statement but i cant really disagree or argue with it because i don't know if they do or do not use twitter. the main reason why i would like to disagree with that fact is because i feel like employers would be more professional and use more professional sites to fish for employees. i don't know tho, that just seems more logical to me.
unfortunately my opinion doesn't seem to valid for me because i feel like i'm saying all these negative things because i don't like twitter at all which would make my thoughts completely biased.
i honestly don't think that i'm ever going to even look at my twitter account after i'm done with the twitter requirements for this class.

  1. I agree with you Abdul. Employers don't judge you by Twitter. However, they do look at Twitter and Facebook and other social media to see if what kind of traits you might have.

  2. I'm glad for your honesty even though you feel that you don't have justification for your reasoning. I think you do. I also agree with you that employers should be looking at more professional sites. Your personal life and work life shouldn't have to be so tightly connected to the point where it invades your personal life and privacy.

  3. I think it is very hard for someone so used to Facebook to just downgrade to upadating their status on Twitter. Even if it can eventually lead to possible job opportunities. It's just another social media website that lacks criteria.

  4. I agree Abdul! I think that if an employer is going to hire you based on what is essentially a facebook status, there's something wrong with the world!
